Pushing a Boulder

Posted date:  October 21, 2010  |  No comment
I  have had days in the past where it feels like we’re pushing a boulder up a very very large hill.  A mountain maybe.  Sometimes you have to work insanely hard and you keep thinking that around every turn it will get easier.  Something will happen to lighten the load.  I’ve been faked out a few times before.  However, I actually think it’s happening now.  Just when I finally stopped waiting for it because it seemed like it might not ever come, that’s when it happens.  Doesn’t it always work out that way?
Not that we don’t have more work to do.  There is always more.  Yet, our phones are ringing.  It’s not just outgoing calls anymore.  Clubs are calling us, out-of-town newspapers and radio stations are CALLING US.  Hell, Joe Brandmeier called and offered to make our music video.  That just doesn’t happen everyday.  I was invited to my first party the other day.  It was confusing, I thought the MN Wild was calling me to work their season-opener party.  I thought they wanted the band to be the entertainment.  After all, that IS what I do.  Then I realized that they were just inviting me to come enjoy the party, as a VIP.  I didn’t know I was a VIP.  Still not sure if I am.  It was awesome nonetheless.
I used to spend so much time worrying about winning over the people who weren’t into our music.  What a dumb thing to obsess over.  Obviously it’s no fun for someone to say they don’t like you, but you can’t let it blind you from the other 100 people in the room who are telling you they love what you are doing.  Those are the people that matter.  Those of you who are taking the time to read this blog, you’re the ones giving me something to write about.  You’re the ones helping me get this thing off the ground.  So, thanks.  You guys rock.  Nuff said.
