Alison Scott will release Hiding Under the Covers Vol. 2 on June 8, 2012 with a concert at the legendary Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN. Covers Vol. 2 is a tour de force collection of songs by Tom Waits, Radiohead, Cat Stevens, Elliot Smith, and more served up in Scott’s deeply soulful and unique vocal style.

One of the record’s many stellar moments is Scott’s version of the Elton John psycho-drama “Madman Across the Water.” Scott’s haunting, Etta James-style vocals ferry the listener to a world of unimaginable heartbreak and desire to be free. Scott’s heart of whiskey and honey shines at its brightest on the Led Zeppelin soul-shaker “Trampled Underfoot,” leaving no doubt that Alison Scott is a troubadour of American boogie and soul. Some of the finest players in the Minneapolis scene–Kevin Bowe, Johnny Solomon and Molly Moore of Communist Daughter, Chris Koza, Desdamona, Davina of Davina and The Vagabonds and her full-time band–step up to make it all come together.

Hiding Under the Covers Vol. 2 steps into the spotlights on June 8 at a double-header CD release show at the Varsity Theater with band mates Kevin Bowe + The Okemah Prophets, who will be releasing their new CD Natchez Trace the same night. An ensemble of some of the region’s finest musicians will be in the supporting line-up. Special guests also include appearances by Ellis, Ben Lubeck of Farewell Milwaukee, Elisa Wright of Galactic Cowboy Orchestra, and The Laurels String Quartet. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Twin Cities music nonprofit Rock the Cause (irockthecause.org).
